Once the frame and body of your vehicle have been skillfully restored, it is transferred to our refinish area. The cornerstone of this department is a brand new Garmat down-draft paint booth. This booth is accented by a 27-foot Binks positive-pressure paint booth. Our Binks booth is one of the largest in Portland and is capable of accommodating a double-stretch limousine. Each booth is also supported by five (5) custom designed preparation areas, or "Prep Decks." These Prep Decks are designed to handle the complete process of vehicle preparation before final paint application. The net result of this improvement is a marked increase in both production levels and the quality of the finished job. We have also incorporated a new state-of-the-art paint curing system into the paint department. In July we purchased the IRT-202 Paint Curing Unit. The IRT System is the latest in rapid paint curing technology. IRT systems are currently being utilized by several automobile manufacturers to produce a superior car finish. The system is recommended and used specifically by Saab, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and Ford. The IRT system is an infrared curing method which, in contrast to conventional curing procedures, actually cures the paint from the metal surface out rather than from the painted surface inward. In other words, the IRT infrared system penetrates the finish and works from the metal surface outward, curing the finish in a more consistent and efficient manner. This is not only a technologically advanced method of curing, but it has also netted a tremendous increase in quality and production levels. The final upgrade to the paint department is the introduction of the PPG PROPHET system. The PROPHET is a portable computerized color matching system that views and reads the actual car color, and transmits that reading to the Touch Mix computer. PROPHET literally examines the color characteristics of the paint---and thanks to advanced fiber optics, its not tricked by lighting variables, the way the human eye can be. PROPHET is an excellent productivity and quality control partner. PROPHET uses fiber optics, so it moves at the speed of light to calculate reliable color matches on solids, metallics, pearls, and tri-coats. In short, PROPHET provides the highest level of color definition technology available, giving Buckle’s the leading edge in meeting customer needs quickly, reliably, and consistently.
